Beyond TAFE: Career paths of some of our former students...
"I started hairdressing when I was 17 and it quickly became my passion once I found clippers and friends that would let me use them on their hair. Since then I have competed in and won hair comps whether it be photographic or cutting and styling championships. When you compete you also get to lose alot so it drives you to be a better hairdresser with more skills in every aspect. In the past two years I have won the IHS National Hairdresser of the Year, 2005 and 2006, I have also trained the 2006 state and National IHS apprentice of the year. Also in 2006 I was the first Australian to win the Oceanic Masters Award in Auckland New Zealand. Hairdressing is awesome because you can create, work with great people, travel and much much more, so far I have had the opportunity to present models in Sydney, Melbourne, Jordan, Mexico and it just feels like I'm getting started." - Lee Nesbitt
